London Festival of Architecture
June 1, 2016 @ 8:00 am - June 30, 2016 @ 5:00 pm UTC+0
The London Festival of Architecture celebrates London as a global hub of architectural experimentation, practice and debate. Taking place throughout June, the annual festival provokes questions about the contemporary and future life of the city, and promotes positive change to its public realm. The city-wide programme is delivered by leading cultural and academic institutions (including the V&A, Design Museum, Serpentine Galleries, New London Architecture, the Architecture Foundation, RIBA, the Landscape Institute, CIAT and London Transport Museum) alongside associated projects by practices and individuals.
Highlights of the London Festival of Architecture 2015 included Architecture Open – an exhibition of London practices at POP Brixton, the Giant Dolls House participatory art project by Shelter, temporary Irish Design pavilions at King’s Cross, Thomas Heatherwick’s NLA Annual Lecture, Routemaster tours of the West End by TfL Commissioner Peter Hendry, tours of the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre with Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey, Public London – a showcase of London’s public spaces, and Assemble’s interactive Brutalist Playground exhibition at the RIBA.
