A parallel narrative: The UAE Pavilion and Aravena’s curatorial proposal Venice Biennale 2016

 

The prevalent urban image of the UAE celebrates it as a forerunner in the race of defying vertical boundaries, testing technological limits and employing luxury as a substitute of the everyday. Prescribed a seemingly categorical and futuristic agenda, the National Pavilion of UAE opts to nuance this perception by showcasing a parallel narrative of progressive leadership and social responsibility as the subject of its exhibition at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia.

CITIZEN “time is TIME” : 2016 Milan Design Week’s most immersive experience

 

This year at Milan Design Week, Citizen collaborated with Tsuyoshi Tane from DGT Architects to create an immersive installation that explores the nature of time. Ayesha Sabri presents details from her visit and the inspiration behind the installation.

Every year, the Tortona Design District, features one event in particular that exceeds everyone’s imagination. This year, it was Citizen’s “time is TIME” installation. A spectacular sensory experience for the visitors for Milan Design Week.

Chipakata Children’s Academy: Designed to make a difference

 

The Chipakata Children’s Academy is a new primary school in Zambia, Africa built as the first initiative of the 14+ Foundation, a New York City-based non-profit organisation established by Joseph Mizzi and Nchimunya Wulf. The design for the school has realized the Foundation’s mission to develop, build and operate schools and orphanages in rural African communities.
